BIG
BIG is an exhibition of LARGE works by artists currently working on each of three coasts in the United States. The works are widely diverse in imagery, technique, media and source material-but each purposefully and skillfully employs an epic scale to convey its message and sensibility. Californian John Cerney revisits the American West with a room installation 44' wide, Gulf coast artist Sharon Engelstein presents a gigantic, amorphous, "inflated creature" of uncertain identity, entitled "Twins,", Texan Mark Flood creates an original, gargantuan painting 30' in length and another Texan artist, Paul Kittelson, presents large-scale representations of diminutive "morsels" of food-appertifs, popcorn kernels-as well as smoking cigarette butts.
