Display of two pieces of British-manufactured horse artillery used by Confederat soldiers at Ft. Fisher to patrol the beaches and protect shipwrecked Confederate blockade runners during the Civil War. Carl Safina to speak at Aquarium dinner

Dr. Carl Safina, eminent author, ecologist and researcher, will speak at a dinner at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Safina, whose books include “Song for the Blue Ocean” and “Eye of the Albatross,” has been profiled for his conservation work by “The New York Times,” ABC’s “Nightline” and Bill Moyer’s television special “Earth on the Edge.” Safina’s newest book, “Voyage of the Turtle,” is scheduled for release in May.
