My wife
Jana and I recently purchased some investment property in the
Wilmington
area through Tricia at Wilmingtonforsale.com. Shortly after our
closings, Tricia sent us the current issue of PawPrints™, and
individually framed photos and descriptions of the adorable cats
sponsored by Wilmingtonforsale.com in the names of our two children.
Our children were thrilled beyond words.
Of course, the first
thing they asked was, “Daddy, when do we get the kittens?” It took
quite a bit of explaining before they understood the concept of an
animal shelter, and adopting and sponsoring animals. When I
finished,Maleah, our 6-yr. old, declared, “Daddy, I’m going to save ALL
the animals”.I told her that was a great idea. When we brought her in
to bed that night, we discovered she had cleared all her knick-knacks
off her dresser, and had dedicated the area to the photo of her new
sponsored kitten.
The next morning,
Maleah, who is often the last one up, got up before the rest of the
family. When I came downstairs, she had all her art supplies spread
across the kitchen table, and she was furiously drawing picture after
picture. She had already completed a 6-page, illustrated storybook
titled, “Cats are Cool”. She said, “Dad, will you buy this book;
it’s $2?” I said, “OK, what’s it for?” She replied, “I’m
going to save all the animals.
It’s called ‘Art for Animals’”.
By the end of that day,
she had sold us two or three pieces for a total of $5, The next day, I
left for
Wilmington
to do some work on our properties. Each day I was there, when I phoned
home, Maleah updated me on her fund-raising. By the end of the week,
as I prepared for the long drive back, I learned that she had raised
$12, and all of her friends and relatives had been strong-armed to buy
a piece of artwork.
It is now a few weeks
later. Maleah is still drawing for the animals, and putting the money
she has raised in a special box that she made. We are getting ready to
send her donation to Rhonda & Tricia at Wilmingtonforsale.com,
along with some of her artwork. Maleah is afraid she won’t have
enough money to save another cat, but Rhonda said she would help.
Maleah is planning to look at the animals at www.pawprint.com and pick
one out.

Yesterday, our 4-yr.
old
Tyler
, announced that he had started his own collection for homeless
people. He too, has started a little cashbox, and is determined to
beat his sister. We are extremely grateful to PawPrints™ and
Wilmingtonforsale.com for the role they have played in helping us to
teach our children the importance of helping others. On
second-thought, it seems that in this case the children are teaching
us. |
